SPECIAL DESIGN FEATURES

YOLO have included special design features to make the YOLO Compost Tumbler effective and durable.

ALREADY ASSEMBLED

Your YOLO Compost Tumbler comes already assembled in its box. Take it out, put it on the ground or mount it on your wall (fittings provided) and start using it. Tear up the box and use it as ‘brown’ material in your compost.

STRONG PLASTIC

The robust shell is rotomoulded from UV-stabilised polyethylene and can be left outdoors in the sun and rain. The shell is a single unit that will neither leak nor break and the lid is strong and securely bolted to the shell by means of moulded-in brass inserts.

INTERNAL FINS

Each YOLO Compost Tumbler has six moulded-in internal fins that efficiently turn, mix and aerate the material, and break up any clumps each time you tumble your YOLO. 

STEEL FRAME

The powder-coated steel frame can be free standing – on a level surface – or wall mounted (fittings provided).

MOULDED-IN BRASS INSERTS

Bolts for the hinges and latch are fixed to the shell by means of moulded-in brass inserts. This is a strong and waterproof attachment method.

GALVANISED STEEL

Quality, rust-proof hinges and a lockable latch keep the lid in place.

RAINPROOF LID

The hinged lid, with its lockable latch, fits over a raised edge to keep rain out. The lid covers a wide opening for easy and mess-free transfer of compostable material to the bin. The lid is easy to unlatch and quick to re-fasten. Just remember to fasten the lid before tumbling the shell. The lid is not airtight or watertight so, after tumbling, always finish with the lid on top – like a roof – to ensure that rain will run off the lid.

If your YOLO Compost Tumbler is wall mounted, park your wheelbarrow under the bin, open the lid and pour out the matured compost. To empty units that stand on the ground, place a large tray or tarp underneath and tip the contents onto the sheet. Drag to where it is needed in the garden.

DOG & RODENT (AND MONKEY) PROOF

Neither your naughty pooch, pesky rats nor mischievous monkeys will get into your YOLO Compost Tumbler.

VARIOUS SIZES

Whether you live in a 3rd floor apartment or a house with a sprawling garden, there is a YOLO Compost Tumbler for you.

The YOLO Compost Tumbler is available in three sizes as double-shell units: Small (2 x 45 litre shells), Medium (2 x 100-litre shells) and Large (2 x 200-litre shells).

The small is perfect for townhouses and apartments where the majority of the compostable material is kitchen waste and a little garden trimmings.

The medium is suited townhouses or homes with small gardens.

The large is suited to homes with any-sized gardens. Used in conjunction with a compost heap / leaf cage, a YOLO can be used in large gardens for a faster turnover of compost and for kitchen waste, which keeps pests out of the compost heap.

The units comes with double shells so that the second shell can be used while the contents in the first are maturing.

HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR TUMBLER

Successful compost is primarily dependent on two factors: the correct brown-green ratio and aeration. The latter is made easy by turning your YOLO Compost Tumbler regularly, when you add new material. Achieving the correct 2/3 brown to 1/3 green material ratio requires more thought.
