Description
The Retool Midi Tools
Our midi tool range was born out of a need to provide a package of locally made, durable yet light tools that fill a variety of functions in a food growing setting, but that also serve a purpose for regular gardeners.
The 60cm handles ensure the tools are compact, light and portable, but also give that extra reach and leverage often not afforded by small hand trowels and weeding tools.
We also intend the longer handles on the midi range to help make gardening more accessible to differently abled people, particularly for wheelchair users on raised beds.

Applications and How to Use
Hold the grubber hoe at the slightly narrow section toward the back of the handle. The blade side is an effective digger and perfect for opening up holes for planting seedlings and also works surprisingly well in getting through lawn grass or other similar matted or spongy soil coverings. The clawed side is great for loosening top soil, spreading compost and more.
The midi trowel is used as a standard trowel would be, but the fun part comes when holding it with two hands and using a stabbing motion (as one would use a stick) to dig, turn, and cut through compact soil. The serrated edge gives you extra bite when dealing with small roots or dense material. It’s also great for precision planting and scooping compost into tight spots.
Use the midi rake to spread mulch or compost evenly, prep raised beds for planting, or rake in seeds. Its compact head fits into corners and edges where larger tools can’t reach. You can even use it for light digging in soft soil or even to help with harvesting nuts and berries!
Ergonomics
We purposefully added a handle slightly longer than is common on these types of tools, allowing extra reach and power. The handle length is also perfect for tending to raised beds without having to bend down too much – perfect for elderly or differently abled people.
Care and Maintenance
Always remove excess soil residue after use and store in a dry place. The handle can be oiled every six months or so with Pronature sealant, linseed oil, beeswax, or any other naturally wood sealant.
