Cover Crop: Living Cover

Got bare earth in your garden? While we do encourage naked gardening, bare soil should always be covered up. Spread some cover crop seed to beat the weeds before you decide what to plant. Cover crops are also great way to introduce a wide variety of macro- and micro-nutrients, as well as organic matter for mulching.

Organicraft’s Living Cover (like the show, but less dancing) is a mix of red and white clover, which is a great nitrogen fixer and scavenger. It also provides biomass, attracts beneficial insects, suppresses weeds, and creates a habitat for earthworms.

Mostly used on farmland but also perfectly suited to your garden, cover crops control erosion, increase water filtration and contribute to the development of the humic layer.
